Moving Forward NH Quality Coalition Introduces 9 Action Plans

The Coalition is excited to share nine Action Plans for nursing home quality improvement! Each is an opportunity to improve the quality of life and work of nursing home residents and staff. Please consider joining us in this team effort to make every nursing home a community in which lives are nurtured, residents are empowered and where people want to work.

Over the next year, we will focus on accomplishing as many of these plans as possible. We will continue to hold discussions with national policymakers, pilot test high-impact quality improvement approaches, and strengthen models for state-based teams and local leaders.

Building on recommendations from the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering & Medicine’s 2022 report on nursing home quality, the action plans outline strengths-based approaches to promote nursing home quality through policy and practice improvements across a range of key issues.

Each documents a particular challenge facing nursing homes today, explains why it is important to residents’ quality of life, defines focused goals for addressing that challenge, and provides a step-by-step path the Coalition will take to achieve them over a year. They also describe how nursing homes, state agencies, federal policymakers and others can collaborate in the short term, while identifying core funding needs for long-term success and sustainability.

Join us on Wednesday, July 19, 2-3 PM ET, to learn more about the action plans and how they’re driving the Coalition’s work in the coming year.  Register here. (Click on Reserve a Spot on the right side of this landing page.)

This document combines all nine plans into one place for easy printing, reading and sharing. (86 pages) The first 2 pages of this combined document includes an introduction from Alice Bonner (one of my favorite people in the LTC industry!) about the work of the Moving Forward Coalition and the exciting action plans.
