Epic gives sneak peek of new AI tool for SMS appointment scheduling

A new conversational artificial intelligence tool from Epic could enable health systems to offer and schedule appointments to patients by engaging them through text. In about 20 seconds, the AI agent can initiate a conversation via SMS with the patient to see whether they want to schedule a follow-up. If the patient texts back that they do, it will then text appointment options, as seen in a video accompanying the announcement.
