The U.S. Administration for Community Living Announces Two New Funding Opportunities for the Lifespan Respite Care Program

The U.S. Administration for Community Living (ACL) has opened two new Lifespan Respite Care Program funding opportunities. The Lifespan Respite Care Programs are “coordinated systems of accessible, community-based respite care services for family caregivers of children and adults of all ages with disabilities and/or chronic conditions.”

Please note that the Lifespan Respite Care Act limits who is eligible to apply for these funding opportunities. Per the Lifespan Respite Care Act, “awards may only be made to eligible state agencies that administer the State program under the Older Americans Act of 1965; administer the State program under title XIX of the Social Security Act; or are designated by the Governor of that state to administer the program activities described in the Notices of Funding Opportunity.”

With the release of the 2022 National Strategy to Support Family Caregivers, applicants are encouraged to align their proposals with the strategy and to look for opportunities to re-think or enhance their existing respite systems of care.

For more information on these two new funding opportunities, including how to apply, please refer to ACL’s announcement.
