On April 19, 2022, I posted a blog to inform our readers of this latest proposed rule – FY 2023 Hospital Inpatient Prospective Payment System (IPPS) and Long Term Care Hospitals (LTCH PPS) Proposed Rule – CMS-1771-P.

CMS has posted a corresponding Fact Sheet to help providers with an overview of the proposed rule – there’s a lot of moving parts that also impact Critical Access Hospitals (CAHs).  “This rule also includes proposed revisions to the hospital and critical access hospital (CAH) conditions of participation (CoPs) for infection prevention and control and antibiotic stewardship programs. These proposed revisions would require hospitals and CAHs, after the conclusion of the current COVID-19 public health emergency (PHE), to continue COVID-19 and seasonal influenza reporting, and would establish new reporting requirements for future declared public health emergencies related to a specific infectious disease or pathogen.”

Additional significant highlights of the Proposed Rule Fact Sheet include:

  • Proposed Changes to Payment Rates under IPPS
