For the second time in March 2022, CMS has posted an updated Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) Quality Reporting Program (QRP) Quick Reference Guide.  This version – 3.0 – is dated March 30, 2022.

The only change from the previous version (v2.0) dated January 28, 2022, posted March 2, 2022, is this (found on page 3 of 5):

The last sentence in v2.0 read: “However, due to the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency (PHE), implementation of these new measures (**) has been delayed and data collection will begin on October 1, 2022.”  I’ve underlined and italicized the previous verbiage.

The data collection and implementation of Transfer of Health Information to both the Patient and Provider-Post-Acute Care is now being delayed for two (2) years after the end of the PHE. The current declaration of PHE is slated to expire on April 16th but the “feel” is that the PHE will be renewed for at least another 60 to 90 days. If you recall, CMS has told the provider communities that it will give at least a 60-day notification of the expiration of the PHE. We’ll watch and see what happens.
