Before I provide the latest CMS, CDC and NHSN data, there’s another report you need to review. The report itself says the data is alarming and the authors were definitely not kidding. It’s a sobering view of where nursing homes stand currently. The report is 9 slides in length and should be shared with your team and colleagues. I’ve excerpted some of the slides.

Please share the above information with all of your staff as well. It may well be enough to convince the still-hesitant folks to reconsider vaccination. It certainly emphasizes the need to provide reeducation for staff behavior outside their work hours as well as strict adherence to masking, PPE, handwashing, physical distancing – these things save lives of staff and their loved ones as well as the residents they care for. Include families and visitors in this education as well. Everyone has to step up and do their part to move us out of this public health emergency!

CMS has posted the nursing home dataset for the week ending January 2, 2022 however the By the Numbers chart that is found on the landing page still reflects the data for the week ending December 26, 2021.
