Webinar Marks Upcoming Black Maternal Health Week

Black Maternal Health Week is coming up on April 11th–17th. Launched by the Black Mamas Matter Alliance, the week was officially designated by a White House proclamation in 2021. Black Maternal Health Week aims to raise awareness about racial inequities in maternal health outcomes in the United States. As noted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, hundreds of people die each year during pregnancy or in the year after, and thousands have adverse health outcomes from labor and delivery. Black birthing people are three times more likely to die from a pregnancy-related cause.

PCG Health’s team of subject matter experts in improving maternal health outcomes and reducing the stark and persistent disparities experienced by Black birthing people – including through designing targeted Section 1115 Medicaid Waivers, pay-for-performance programs and learning collaboratives – is pleased to be participating in an upcoming presentation marking Black Maternal Health Week with the Perinatal Quality Institute (PQI). The presentation, “Lessons Learned from a State-Wide Learning Collaborative to Improve Severe Hypertension Recognition and Response” will highlight benefits achieved by pairing statewide policy programs with PCG’s Maternal Learning Collaborative support to accelerate improved population health outcomes, increase stakeholder satisfaction with pay-for-performance program participation and increase joy in work for the frontline providers working in your delivery system. This statewide Collaborative, with 37 participating Labor & Delivery units from acute care hospitals, targeted improvements in the timely treatment of Severe Hypertension with a focus on eliminating inequity in outcomes and experience of Black women and birthing people.

The webinar takes place on April 25th at 1pm ET.  We invite you to join the webinar to learn about the impactful lessons and strategies derived from this significant collaborative effort.  For more information and to register, visit
