SupportCaregiving.org offers resources to help guide implementation of the National Strategy to Support Family Caregivers

A coalition of groups, including the National Academy for State Health Policy (NASHP), the National Alliance for Caregiving, and The John A. Hartford Foundation, is proud to announce the launch of SupportCaregiving.org, a new site that supports the implementation of the first-of-its-kind National Strategy to Support Family Caregivers.

SupportCaregiving.org shares specific actions from the National Strategy that employers, funders, and managed care plans can take to support family caregivers, as well as guides for state officials on topics that include respite care, the direct care workforce, and other state policy strategies to support caregivers. The site also features a short animated video that provides an overview of the National Strategy and what people can do to support caregivers.

Each year, around 53 million people provide a broad range of assistance to support the health, quality of life, and independence of someone close to them. An estimated one in six individuals is a family caregiver, and more than two-thirds of people will need assistance with tasks as they age. Caregivers say providing support is rewarding but challenging mentally, physically, and financially.

The National Strategy details hundreds of actions that federal, state, and local governments, businesses, and communities can take to support caregivers. SupportCaregiving.org supports the implementation and dissemination of the National Strategy by educating different audiences about action steps that they can take.

SupportCaregiving.org was created by NASHP in collaboration with ARCH National Respite Network and Resource Center, Eldercare Workforce Alliance, Generation Cares, Grantmakers in Aging, Long-Term Quality Alliance, National Alliance for Caregiving,  National MLTSS Health Plan Association, PHI, SHRM, and USAging, with support from The John A. Hartford Foundation.
